Job Title: Service Engineer

Location: M1 Corridor - Northampton/Milton Keynes

Sunfish Services is a rapidly growing fire detection and protection business. It specialises in the design, installation, commissioning and service of fire detection systems and fire extinguishing equipment. The Company has established itself by providing a rigorous and knowledgeable service to its customers. The Company is accredited to the requirements of NSI Fire Gold Scheme BAFE SP203 for the design, installation, commissioning and handover, maintenance and verification of fire detection and alarm systems and BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

This position has been created through the growth of the business and further recruitment is anticipated. The Company requires an individual with a high level of commitment and willingness to ‘get the job done’. The right attitude to the job is at least as important as the technical and experience related attributes described below.

Reporting to: Operations Director

Main Function:

To install, service and maintain fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and fire extinguishers to the relevant British Standards and to provide high levels of customer service.

Principle Responsibilities:

Working as part of a team, to install fire alarm and emergency lighting systems
To service and maintain fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and fire extinguishers in accordance with the relevant British Standards
Work safely and responsibly to avoid injury and damage to property
Correctly complete engineer service reports
Report deficiencies or deviations in systems
Prepare quotations for Small Works and Repairs
Participate in the out of hours call out rota
Any other duties in line with the post

Knowledge and Requirements

Good electrical knowledge - City & Guilds Electrical Installation qualifications or equivalent would be an advantage
Knowledge of the British Standard BS5839-1:2002 and BS 5266 would be an advantage
Must hold a full clean driving licence
Ability to lift and carry equipment and climb ladders, ensuring conformance to health and safety requirements. Ability to use power tools
Self starter and a team player
